I cannot get the "see also" advanced level to show in the honor descriptor box. I thought at first it might be because the system doesn't work well with accented letters, but it turns out that it works just fine in the Spanish version. Any ideas on what I might be missing? --[[User:W126jep|w126jep]] ([[User talk:W126jep|talk]]) 03:27, 14 September 2015 (EDT)

I cannot get the "see also" advanced level to show in the honor descriptor box. I thought at first it might be because the system doesn't work well with accented letters, but it turns out that it works just fine in the Spanish version. Any ideas on what I might be missing? --w126jep (talk) 03:27, 14 September 2015 (EDT)

The Honor_desc template looks for the advanced honor in "category/honorname - Advanced" - and since category is set to Nature, but the page is located in "Regional" it doesn't find it. We should probably rethink the Regional category and possible dispense with it. I don't know off the top of my head what the ripple effect of that would be though. --Jomegat (talk) 20:25, 14 September 2015 (EDT)
The Tides honor points to its advanced honor because it set its category to Regional. Which seems quite wrong, but does serve the purpose of auto-finding Tides - Advanced. I don't like it though. --Jomegat (talk) 20:28, 14 September 2015 (EDT)
I see that I should have put it in Nature instead of Regional. I was afraid it would show up in the main index and I forgot that the main index will not show honors that are not at the Division level.
I really like the Regional category and don't think it would be beneficial to get rid of it. I think the biggest advantage is that it helps clear up confusion about what honors are available for everyone. At a Union or Division camporee, a PF from Tennessee might learn of the Tides honor from a PF in FL, search for it online, and find it here; and I believe we do a very good job at explaining where certain honors are available and for who. That person would learn from this site that Tides is only available in FL, and either not pursue it or contact the correct conference office, instead of contacting their local conference office and maybe becoming more confused by the responses received.
I do think, though, that it could be clean up or better organized. --w126jep (talk) 22:44, 14 September 2015 (EDT)
