Throughout the years, many AY honors have had their patches either be updated, redesigned, changed, or even discarded. This is usually due to a changing world and a need for requirements to be up-to-date with the latest discoveries, changing technology, differing cultures, and much more. While almost all honors are simply updated in requirements and/or design, there are also a few honors that no longer exist.

This page showcases several AY honor patches as they existed before they underwent design changes. The purpose of the page is three-fold: 1) Demonstrate the interesting designs, history, and legacy of Pathfindering; 2) Resolve any questions and confusion as to what a patch is supposed to look like & 3) Identifying patches that maybe many seasoned Pathfinders have on their sashes but might have forgotten what they are ;-)

	Barbering	Unknown	It is uncertain as to why this patch was printed with a gray background. The most likely explanation is that it was a misprint. The updated design now has a red background to reflect its Vocational category and a circular outline reflecting the red-white-blue colors that most barber shops are recognized for.

	Bible Evangelism	Unknown	Bible Evangelism used to be part of the now defunct Outreach category, but was changed to the Vocational category.

	Native American Lore	Unknown	Previously titled Indian Lore, this honor was renamed so that the title would be culturally appropriate. The headdress was updated to all eagle feathers instead of multi-colored feathers. No tribes ever used multi-colored warbonnets.

	Photography	Unknown	Photography technology has progressed a long way, and the image of a dry-plate camera became antique. It was replaced with a film camera (although some might already consider this image too an antique).

150px	Skateboarding	Unknown	This patch was specific to the North American Division. This honor's requirements were discontinued due to safety and insurance concerns. The Skateboarding honor can still be found within the South Pacific Division, albeit with very different requirements.

	Teaching	Unknown	Teaching used to be part of the now defunct Outreach category, but was changed to the Vocational category. Also, the flag in front of the building was of the USA; this made the insignia region-specific, instead of worldwide.

	Adventist Church Heritage Award (FL)	Unknown	Specific only to the Florida Conference, this patch was originally made wide as to distinguish it from a regular Division-level AY honor. It was blue in color to reflect the Outreach category. It was changed to a normal AY honor patch size and the background was recolored to gray to match all other FL-only honors.

	Natural Disasters	Unknown	Specific only to the Florida Conference, this patch was originally made just a bit larger than a regular honor patch to distinguish it from a regular Division-level AY honor. Originally light-blue in color, it was changed to a normal AY honor patch size and the background was recolored to gray to match all other FL-only honors.
