1. Explain and demonstrate how to prepare and finish new or old woodwork in the following ways:
a. Staining
b. Varnishing
c. Painting
2. Give two methods of stippling.
3. When should a paint spray gun be used?
4. Describe the proper methods for cleaning and care of paint and varnish brushes.

Brushes & Rollers
Step 1: Using three clean plastic containers large enough to hold the tools being cleaned, fill one bucket with soap and water. Fill two other buckets with clean water. This will create a wash bucket, first rinse bucket, and a second rinse bucket.
Step 2: Place the item to be cleaned into the wash bucket.
Step 3: Using a properly protected hand, work the cleaning solution through the brush bristles/roller cover. (*TIP*: The use of a brush comb will be helpful to remove dried paint and debris from deep within the bristles.)
Step 4: Wring out excess cleaning solution by squeezing brush bristles/roller covers.
Step 5: Place item to be cleaned into the first rinse bucket.
Step 6: Repeat steps 3 and 4.
Step 7: Place item to be cleaned into the second rinse bucket.
Step 8: Repeat steps 3 and 4.
Step 9: Allow tools to dry. (*TIP*: To dry brushes and rollers quickly, use a brush spinner.)
